Wi-Fi Alliance to Establish New Test Lab in Shanghai
October 17, 2008
On October 13 the Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) Alliance announced that it has selected Shanghai-based TA Technology as its second Wi-Fi ATL (Authorized Test Laboratory) in China, China Business News reported. Marked the Alliance's 13th test lab worldwide, the new lab will provide independent testing and certification programs to the alliance members, ensuring the interoperability of their Wi-Fi devices and speeding up the time-to-market for Wi-Fi Certified products, China Tech News reported.

Previously, the Alliance's first ATL in China was given to the Communications Measurement Center of China's MIT (Ministry of the Information Industry), which was officially renamed the MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) in June 2008. It is anticipated that by 2010, the number of hotspots in China will reach over 38,000 up from the current 10,000, according again to China Business News.
